BOÉ Motorsports finished the Italian Grand Prix with Ana Carrasco in 22nd position, while Vicente Pérez was forced to retire when he was on his way up
The Italian Grand Prix has come to an end for BOÉ Motorsports after three days of hard work on track. The weekend started with the announcement of Vicente Pérez joining the team to replace David Muñoz, who is still recovering from the injury he suffered in Jerez.
From the outset, both Pérez and Ana Carrasco worked on the set-up of the bike and the pace ahead of the race, all with constant improvements on their personal best times and getting closer to the fastest laps.
After the first practices, the BOÉ Motorsports riders had to go through Q1, a session in which Ana Carrasco finished fourteenth and Vicente Pérez fourth, so the Valencian rider went through to Q2. In this final qualifying session, Perez set a fastest lap of 1:57.402 which allowed him to be the fourteenth fastest. However, a penalty meant that he started the race from 26th place and had to serve a long lap penalty, while Ana was able to start Sunday’s race from 20th place.
In the race, both Ana Carrasco and Vicente Pérez were growing little by little. While the rider from Murcia improved her fastest time from Q1, Vicente Pérez completed the long lap penalty and began a good comeback, although nine laps from the end, after saving a crash, the bike stopped in the gravel and he was forced to retire. Carrasco crossed the finish line in 22nd position.
Ana Carrasco: “It has been a complicated weekend, although I expected it because Mugello is one of the most difficult circuits on the calendar for me. Even so, we worked well, always looking ahead and we have improved a lot compared to last year. In the race I lacked a bit of pace in the first two or three laps but then I managed to get a good pace and even improve my time from Q1. Obviously I am not happy with the result but I have the feeling that we are improving and we are on the right way, so I am sure that sooner or later we will get the result we deserve. I want to thank the team because even though it has been a difficult weekend they have supported me and helped me at all times, and we have managed to get the best performance we could. Now it’s time to rest for a few days and go for Germany, it’s a circuit I’m quite good at, so we’ll have to close the gap. Let’s go for it”.
Vicente Pérez:“It was a very positive weekend for me. With all the difficulties I had, we were able to show that we are fast. After the penalty, when I was recovering from the group in front I had a highside, I saved the crash but I went into the gravel and the bike stopped there. Even so I’m happy, now I have to wait for another opportunity. I have to thank José Ángel, Aitor, Littium and Family Cash for this opportunity”.
The next Grand Prix will take place during the weekend of 17-18 June at Sachsenring in Germany.
