BOÉ Motorsports has returned to score points and to position itself as one of the reference teams in this German Grand Prix. David Muñoz, who returned this weekend after missing the Jerez, Le Mans and Mugello races due to injury, was one of the most combative riders of the weekend.
Muñoz, after finishing yesterday’s qualifying session as the fifth fastest Moto3 rider, received a race direction penalty that made him start today from the last position and make a long lap penalty, something that forced him to set a very high pace to come back.
The Andalusian rider made up ten positions on the first lap and was nineteenth, while after two laps he was already thirteenth. From there, he completed the long lap penalty and was again at the back, although he continued to set a great pace with constant overtaking that allowed him to cross the finish line in twelfth position.
Ana Carrasco started from twentieth position for the second race in a row. The BOÉ Motorsports rider had a great Saturday and today she fought in a large group of riders right from the start. Carrasco finished the German Grand Prix in 27th place and continues to close the gap to the leading riders.
David Muñoz: “We had a good weekend, although yesterday’s penalty affected us. I had a mistake that can be made, but we have to try not to let it happen again so that it doesn’t affect races like today’s, where I could have been in the top 5 easily. We will try to improve, there are many things to improve, and little by little we will go forward. We are among the fastest, but there are little things missing to make the difference. Thank you very much to the team for all their work this weekend, now it’s time to think about Assen, which I’m sure we’ll be fighting at the front”.
Ana Carrasco:“I’m a bit disappointed with the race today. I had a good start and I was able to make up some positions in the first corner, the pace at the start wasn’t bad, but I struggled a lot on the straights, I felt I had no acceleration and it was difficult to overtake, so I was losing positions. I think the team and I did a great job this weekend and the bike set-up worked really well, but we have to see what happened and how we can improve for the next race in Assen. We didn’t give up and I’m sure a good result will come soon”.
This coming weekend will be the next race, the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, in Assen.
