David Muñoz was ninth, while Vicente Pérez was unable to finish after another rider knocked him off on the first lap
The Moto3 World Championship came to an end at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, where great races were held. BOÉ Motorsports was looking for a good result at one of its home circuits, but bad luck struck Vicente Pérez on Sunday from the first lap.
The Valencian rider was looking forward to the race, especially motivated after his last race in which he finished fifth. This weekend he was showing great form but, after the start, in turn two, another rider caused a multiple crash by over braking and in this action Pérez was one of the victims.
On the other hand, David Muñoz was able to score points again. The Andalusian rider was able to stay in the leading group in the early stages, but gradually lost ground and settled in the second group. The Andalusian rider fought in a large group and was finally able to finish in the top ten again, crossing the finish line in ninth position.
After this Grand Prix and after missing four races due to injury, David Muñoz has finished the Moto3 World Championship this season in tenth position with a total of 113 points.
David Muñoz:“From the beginning of the weekend I felt good with the bike. We were quite fast and in the end we were ninth in Q2. Today the riders in front of us had a very high pace, they were very strong from the start and we were just a little bit off them. I think we have had a good year with all the difficulties we have encountered. Tomorrow we will start working for 2024, we want to fight to win the championship, that’s what we came here for”.
Vicente Pérez:“It’s a shame to finish like this. We knew we could be at the front here, it was the race where I felt the best and we had a great pace. We were knocked out in the second corner, we couldn’t even do a lap, and above all it’s a shame because I wanted to give the team a good result in this home race. I only have words of thanks to all the members of BOÉ Motorsports, especially to José Ángel for his confidence and for these opportunities”.
Tomorrow Monday the 2024 pre-season starts with the first tests with next season’s bikes.
