In Q2, David Muñoz was eleventh and Joel Kelso fourteenth, but they showed superior pace and are expected to fight for the podium tomorrow
Hard work and consistency continue to be the key for BOÉ Motorsports this season. Once again, the team led by José Ángel Gutiérrez Boé has managed to grow significantly from Friday to Saturday.
While Joel Kelso was consistently in the top ten during both practice sessions on Friday, David Muñoz was unable to get anywhere near the times of the top qualifiers.
Even so, today in the morning practice the Andalusian rider made a big step forward after finishing the session with the fourth fastest time (1:39.859), while Kelso continued with his good dynamics to be seventh with a time of 1:39.934. Equality was the dominant note in this session, as there was only a difference of just over two tenths of a second between the Australian and the first classified rider.
With these results, the two BOÉ Motorsports riders went straight through to Q2, a session in which, despite the good pace shown by Muñoz and Kelso, they were unable to set their best lap. In the end, David was eleventh (1:40.379) and Joel was fourteenth (1:40.468).
David Muñoz:“We didn’t finish Q2 as we would have liked. We showed that we have speed, Assen is a circuit that I like a lot, especially because of the fast corners. Yesterday I was testing things and we went from less to more taking the right steps. This morning it showed and in Q2 I couldn’t do the lap I expected because another rider bothered me, but that’s no excuse, these things happen, tomorrow we’ll go out to give everything from the start and we’ll be looking for the top positions. Thank you very much to everyone who supports me and to the team for their work”.
Joel Kelso: “It was a pity, yesterday we finished the day well and today we also started well, but I don’t know what happened in Q2, I didn’t have the same feeling as in the morning, we could have finished in a better position. But in qualifying we had problems, these are things that happen, but tomorrow we will try again, we will fix what happened today and I’m sure we will have the same feeling we had this morning. We will try to be at the front and I think we can do it. Thank you very much to the team for all the work they are doing”.
