BOÉ Motorsports once again proved that it is one of the most in-form teams in the championship with both of its riders among the four fastest in Moto3
BOÉ Motorsports continues with its good dynamics also in Jerez. The Spanish team, which for the fourth consecutive race has managed to get directly into Q2 with its two riders, had a great qualifying session in which the team’s two riders finished among the four fastest in the Moto3 class.
On Friday both David Muñoz and Joel Kelso gave the first clues as to how the weekend could go. In the first free practice Muñoz was second and Kelso fourth, a good form that was reflected in practice 1, a session in which both were again in the top ten fastest.
With these results the two BOÉ Motorsports riders secured their direct passage to Q2, as the Moto3 riders had to deal with rain in practice 2 this morning and, logically, no one could improve their times.
In Q2, Muñoz and Kelso were very competitive from the start and with a good chance of being on the front row. The team led by José Ángel Gutiérrez Boé made a good strategy that finally allowed their riders to be among the best: David Muñoz was second with a time of 1:45.174 and Joel Kelso fourth with a lap of 1:46.053.
David Muñoz:“We had a very good qualifying session. We have worked a lot during these last races because we were not where we should have been. We knew we had the potential to be at the front and we showed it: yesterday we were second and ninth, this morning I was fast in wet conditions and today we went out with things very clear. Tomorrow will be an interesting race, I will go out to fight with everything. Thank you very much to the team for their work and to everyone who came to support us in Jerez”.
Joel Kelso: “First of all, I want to congratulate David for his result, he did a great job. I would have liked to have been on the front row, but fourth position is not a bad result, I am happy. This is a special track for me, I love it, but for some reason I can’t quite adapt to do a perfect lap. I hope tomorrow we can make another step forward, it’s not our best track and we are still fourth, so it’s a good result. Tomorrow we will give it our all!”
Tomorrow’s Moto3 race at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto will start at 11:00.
