Both David Muñoz and Ana Carrasco made two good comebacks to finish sixth and nineteenth respectively
The MotoGP World Championship has visited India for the first time. At the new Buddh circuit, BOÉ Motorsports went from strength to strength with its two riders in a positive weekend of hard work with both David Muñoz and Ana Carrasco.
In the first practices of the weekend BOÉ Motorsports was gradually learning the keys of this Indian circuit with constant improvements in the set-up and, although on Friday neither David Muñoz nor Ana Carrasco could get into the positions of direct passage to Q2, on Saturday both riders made a step forward.
David had a better feeling on Saturday morning and was able to qualify directly to Q2, while Ana Carrasco had to go through Q1, a session in which she was eleventh. Just at the end of this first qualifying session, it started to rain and Muñoz could not confirm his best sensations with the dry track and finally finished Q2 in fourteenth position on the starting grid.
From this fourteenth position, David Muñoz managed to make a great comeback in the race. The BOÉ Motorsports rider set a very competitive pace and gradually gained positions in a very consistent manner to finally cross the finish line sixth and score ten more points that put him eleventh in the championship with 76 points, despite having missed three races due to injury.
For her part, Ana Carrasco was also very consistent with her pace and that allowed her to climb from twenty-fourth on the grid to nineteenth place, very close to the points positions.
David Muñoz:“The weekend went well, but not well enough because I expected more. We are getting into a good rhythm, a good path we should be on and soon we will be fighting for more. We have to keep working on this line because I think we have a good team. Today I felt very comfortable with the bike, as the laps went by I felt better. At the front I sometimes had some movements and it closed up on me at times, but we made a good comeback. Thank you very much to the team for their work, more in Japan!”
Ana Carrasco:“The truth is that it has been a pretty tough weekend physically because of the temperatures, but I’m quite happy. We have been going from less to more and we have worked well, improving session after session. Today I think the race was good, I had a good start and the pace wasn’t bad. I was fighting in a group, I tried my best to finish first of the group, but the last laps I suffered a lot with the front tyre and I was on the limit to overtake. Still, overall, we had a good weekend. Now we have to think about Japan, we will try to keep improving there and keep making steps forward”.
The next Grand Prix will be held in Japan this coming weekend.
