The Spanish team did a great job to get David Muñoz’s bike back up to speed after his crash at the start of Q1. Muñoz was then able to make it through to Q2 and was seventh fastest

BOÉ Motorsports is still in top form at the San Marino Grand Prix. The team led by José Ángel Gutiérrez Boé had a busy qualifying day that ended on a positive note.

After practice on Friday and Saturday morning, neither David Muñoz nor Ana Carrasco were able to qualify directly for Q2, so both riders focused on improving ahead of Q1.

This first qualifying session did not start in the best possible way, as David Muñoz suffered a crash at the start of the session. Despite the short time available to react, both the Andalusian rider and the team managed to do a great job. The BOÉ Motorsports technical team was able to repair the bike in record time and Muñoz was able to start at the end of Q1 and set the fourth fastest time, qualifying for Q2. Ana Carrasco was fourteenth with a best lap of 1:44.055.

In Q2, David Muñoz was constantly fighting for the leading positions and, after the chaos of Q1, he was able to complete this session normally. Finally, Muñoz will start tomorrow’s race from seventh position on the grid thanks to a best lap of 1:42.100.

David Muñoz: “Today we did what we had to do. Yesterday we were looking for pace and today in the third practice we couldn’t get through to Q2. At the beginning of Q1 I had a big crash, but I was able to get back to the pits and we managed to do a good lap on our own. In Q2 we knew we had a good pace, but after the crash everything got a bit complicated. Tomorrow we will start seventh, so we will go for it, we are in a very good shape and we are ready to fight. Thank you very much to the team for their work”.

Ana Carrasco: “It’s been a complicated weekend. Since the first practice we have been working to find a good set-up but there are parts of the circuit where I don’t feel comfortable and I have problems, especially coming out of the corners. We have improved, but we have to take another step for tomorrow. We are working hard with the team to find a solution and to have a good race”.
