David Muñoz was second, just 45 thousandths of a second away from victory, while Joel Kelso was again very consistent in fifth position

The Spanish Grand Prix has ended in a very positive way for BOÉ Motorsports. The team led by José Ángel Gutiérrez Boé continues in spectacular form with both David Muñoz and Joel Kelso, who have established themselves as two of the leading riders in the championship.

Today’s race promised plenty of excitement for BOÉ Motorsports. David Muñoz started fifth and Joel Kelso from fourth place. From the beginning of the race the two Spanish team riders were in the front group. As the laps went by, David Muñoz confirmed himself as one of the candidates for the victory, while Kelso fought for fifth place in the second group with a very steady pace.

In the end, Muñoz came within 45 thousandths of a second of victory, but managed to take his first podium of the season with second place. In the case of Kelso, he crossed the finish line fifth after leading the second group.

With these results, Joel Kelso is fifth in the championship with 39 points and David Muñoz sixth with 38. The two riders’ combined total of 77 points keeps BOÉ Motorsports as the third best-placed team in the Moto3 World Championship.

David Muñoz:“It was a very fast race. Collin Veijer set a very high pace from the start. I knew I could keep up with him and that’s what I did until the last lap, at that point I tried to overtake him but I couldn’t. I didn’t see the space or the moment to do it, but second place is a great result too. I’m very happy, we are very confident for the next race and for the rest of the championship”.

Joel Kelso:“At this track we knew we were going to suffer. Yesterday I qualified fourth, but if we wanted to keep up with the front group we were going to use a lot of tyres. The pace wasn’t bad and finishing fifth is a good result for the championship, we scored some good points in a somewhat difficult weekend, so we have to keep working. We have an important test on Tuesday and I’m working really well with the team. They support me and believe in me, and we know what we have to do to come back stronger”.

The next race will be held at the Le Mans circuit on the weekend of 11-12 May.
