Despite trying to make it to the last moment, the Andalusian rider has not yet recovered from the injury suffered at the Spanish Grand Prix
BOÉ Motorsports will have a replacement rider for David Muñoz for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. The Spanish team has waited until the last moment for Muñoz and has been constantly monitoring his recovery after his surgery, but the Andalusian rider is still not in a good condition to be able to take part in this race weekend with total safety.
The replacement chosen by BOÉ Motorsports has been Vicente Pérez, a Valencian rider who is very experienced both in the Moto3 class and at this Mugello circuit. Pérez has been a World Championship rider in this category and currently competes in the Italian Moto3 Championship, a competition in which he was recently the winner of one of the races held at Mugello. In fact, Vicente Pérez leads the championship standings with a 27-point advantage over the second-placed rider.
Vicente Pérez: “This is a good opportunity for me. I am very happy to be part of this great team in this Grand Prix. My goal for the weekend is to work well from the beginning to try to bring home a good result, as I have been waiting for such an opportunity for a long time. I will give my best, and I want to thank the team for this opportunity, my sponsors who have made this possible, and Aitor, who has bet very strongly on me. I would also like to wish David Muñoz a speedy recovery and send him lots of encouragement”.
José Ángel Gutiérrez Boé: “We waited for David, but the medical tests indicated that it was not safe for him to race here. We believe that the best thing for him is that he recovers completely, that he can be at one hundred percent and not to shorten the deadlines, because a new fall without being recovered could be even worse. As David has not been able to come, we have decided to give Vicente Pérez a chance to be with us this Grand Prix. We think he is a good option, he is a fast rider, talented, experienced and, above all, with a lot of desire. Now we have to give our best and work hard so that we can achieve the best possible result together”.
