David Muñoz fought in one of the front groups and finished twelfth, while Ana Carrasco moved up from thirty-first to twenty-second position

BOÉ Motorsports continues to score important points in the Moto3 World Championship. The San Marino Grand Prix came to an end with another positive performance from the two riders of the team led by José Ángel Gutiérrez Boé.

The weekend started with a great progression on Friday for both David Muñoz and Ana Carrasco. The Andalusian rider set a time of 1:44.088 in FP1 and improved to 1:42.518 which placed him as the eleventh fastest rider of the day. In Ana’s case, she went from 1:45.210 to 1:44.760 on Friday, so the improvement was also substantial.

After FP3, both BOÉ Motorsports riders had to go through Q1, a session that was led by David Muñoz with a time of 1:42.210. In Q2, although it started to rain lightly, Muñoz was able to set a 1:43.171 that classified him in fifteenth position for the race, a time that he improved in the warm up session on Sunday, which he finished in fourth position.

In the race, David Muñoz had the most explosive start of all the riders on the grid: in two laps the BOÉ Motorsports rider managed to climb ten positions and moved up to fifth. Meanwhile, Ana Carrasco also started her own comeback with several overtakes from the first laps.

As the laps went by, Muñoz moved away from the fight for victory and fought in a large group to finish in the top ten and finished twelfth, so the rookie continues to add important points for the championship. In addition, Ana Carrasco crossed the finish line in 22nd position, gaining nine places from the start.

David Muñoz: “I think it has been a positive weekend, it has not been the best, but we are still learning and we hope to take another step forward in Aragón. The weekend started off a bit complicated, on Friday we managed to lower our times in FP2 and on Saturday I finished fifteenth. From that position we knew we could get to the front and I started very strong. I think that riders like Foggia and Guevara set a very high pace that was difficult to follow and finally I finished twelfth. For one reason or another we didn’t finish in the position I think we deserved, we had a small problem in the race that made us lose time and, in addition, in the last corner of the last lap another rider touched me, pushed me off the line and I went from ninth to twelfth. I think we are working on a good line, we have to keep going. Thank you very much to the whole team for their work”.

Ana Carrasco: “Positive weekend. We have been closer since the first day and in general the whole weekend. In the race I was expecting a little bit more, but it was a difficult first lap because of the crashes and I lost a little bit of the group in front of me, then I managed to get a good pace and win the fight with the riders in my group, but I would have liked to fight with the group in front of me. We have to keep the positives, in the last races we have taken a good step forward and we will keep working to try to take another step forward in Motorland. Thanks to the whole team for the great work, we are going for more at our home race”.

The next Grand Prix will be held at Motorland Aragón, during the weekend of 17 and 18 September.
